Received the following from Jean Romard , note that there is a new "Agent Orange" toll free phone # 1-866-558-2945. As most of the info is now available in newspapers,tv and on the internet, I will refrain from sending out anymore on this subject unless I get some info that is more detailed than what is readily available. some sites: http://www.defense.gov/news/Mar2000/n03292000_20003294.html http://www.af.mil/mediacenter/pressrelease.asp?prID=123006973 http://www.vspa.com/k9/agentorange4.htm http://cpcug.org/user/billb/ranchhand/ranchhand.html Hi! Today there was a facts finding team from Ottawa in Gagetown, to hear what the members of DND and others had to say. The only DND personnel at the table was Gagetown Base Commander. I didn't attend, but I heard most of it on the news. You can follow most of it on the web "canadaeast.com" which provides news from Fredericton, 'The Daily Gleaner', 'The Telegraph, St John' and 'The Transcript' from Moncton. If you can't get into "canadaeast.com", I'll try to keep you posted, let me know. One thing to note is a new telephone no. 1-866-558-2945 this will put in contact with the DND and can transfer you to Depart of Veteran Affairs. There is also a web site "airforce health site" apparently it is good. A Doctor gave a formula to determine if the Dioxin level in your blood is too high. They compare your level with the level of USA soldiers who were in Vietnam and have been identified has a high level of Dioxin in their blood. By the way for every 7 years you live the dioxon level goes down by half. This doesn't mean that you shouldn't contact the Ottawa people. However, lets not just talk about 1966/1967, some of the members of the old Black Watch from Gagetown say and DND has agree to this that spraying started in the 1950s and up to 1980s. Chemicals called 2,4,5 -T and 2,4-D together creating Agent Orange. The herbicide 2,4,5 -T was banned in Canada in 1985 because it was found to contain Dioxin, a highly toxic chemical. I spent 7 years in Gagetown (1962-1969), so far I cannot say that I'm suffering from the effects of any Agents, I never was tested and my Doctor/Pharmacist don't know a single side effects or anything else about the subject except what we hear on the news. A local lawyer has offered his help to sue the VAC, since people who have been in Gagetown and now live anywhere in North America, one is more or less on his own. I hope that this kind of put you in the picture to some degree. Take care for now. Jean
